The German Cockroach is a common pest in Auckland homes and businesses. Originally from Africa the German Cockroach can be
found mostly where it is warm. The cockroach is often refered to as natures' best survivor and there are some reasons
for this. Firstly the female produces young in large numbers, up to 40 at a time. This combined with it only taking 30 days
for the cockroach to reach sexual maturity means that numbers can increase very quickly. The cockroach is nocturnal hiding during
the day so you dont know you have them or how many there really are. Lastly, the cockroach can go for long periods without
food and water This meaning that even if you restrict their access to food they just remain hidden and inactive until the next opportunity
presents. Besides the German Cockroach being a good survivor they are also a health risk. This is because they carry virues and bacteria on
their body and legs. At night they crawl over your food preparation surfaces in search of food. Cockroaches have recently been shown to
be linked to Athsma.
TREATMENT:The goal of Aces is to eradicate all of the German Cockroaches in your home or business. This can be achieved by a one
hour visit from Aces. Aces prefers to use three types of treatment. The first is PERMEX dust. Aces blows this in the cockroaches' hiding places.
This flushes the cockroaches out and the sametime kills them. Aces uses a a long lasting spray with a quick knock down rate.
Finally Aces uses Goliath Gel bait from BASF. Goliath Gel bait goes on killing the cockroaches for weeks and months after
the treatment. Goliath Gel bait is a slow acting digestive posion, so that cockroach has time to get back to its hiding place. Here it dies
and is then consumed by the other cockroaches, killing them too. The COMBINATION of all three treatments increases the chances of eradication
of the cockroaches.
PROCEDURE: A treatment takes around one hour and there is a two hour stand down period afterwards. The treatments have
a flushing effect and you may see cockroaches or a few days after the treatment. You do not need to empty your food cupboards.
LANDLORDS: Where your tennants have had a significant infestation of cockroaches then vacated the property, this can result in changed
behaviour for cockroaches. A vacated property may have cockroaches under carpets, in light fittings,in ceiling spaces behind door frames,
window frames, fireplaces, electical switches etc. In these cases it is useful to use a solvent based spray ( as well as the other two treatments)
and shut the house up for at least three hours. This as it tends to perferate these hard to reach areas. Some treatment of the ceiling space may
also in indicated.
